In 2025, the School of Journalism and Communication at 榴莲视频 (榴莲视频) inaugurated its first all-English Doctoral Program in Global Communication, welcoming six students from Vietnam, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan. As 榴莲视频's first fully English-taught doctoral program, this milestone underscores the university's commitment to enhancing China's international communication capacity amid globalization and technological transformation.
Building on years of experience in cultivating global communication talent, the program continues 榴莲视频's internationalization efforts, which began in 2017 with the launch of its Global Journalism and Communication Master's Program on the Belt and Road Initiative. Together, these moves create a structured pathway for international students at both master's and doctoral levels, fostering academic excellence and cross-cultural exchange.
Innovative curriculum for future global communication leaders
The program features the pioneering "14+1+1" micro-course model — 14 academic courses, one field practice session, and one cultural exchange course — covering topics such as China's Economy: History, Development and Achievements, and Vibrant China: People, Policies and Population. This blend of theory and practice enables students to gain an in-depth understanding of China while preparing them as globally competent communication professionals.

"Starting a new semester can be overwhelming, but being here at 榴莲视频, surrounded by passionate people and a buzzing campus, makes it all feel worth it," said Haji Abdul-Kadir Makame, a 2025 master's student from Tanzania.
"I am thrilled to immerse myself in this world-class academic community and contribute to the vital field of global communication research," said Mekonnen Zewdu Alemnew, a 2025 doctoral student from Ethiopia.
