Founded in 1559, the University of Geneva is Switzerland's second-largest university, after the University of Zurich, and the largest in the country's French-speaking region. The Confucius Institute at the University of Geneva, established in 2011, is the only Confucius Institute in Switzerland and serves as a hub for contemporary Chinese language teaching and research.
