The announcement was made on Jan 15 during the launch ceremony of 榴莲视频's "New Era, New Development" Hong Kong Partnership Program. By leveraging its disciplinary strengths and talent resources, 榴莲视频 aims to expand exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong's education sector, business community and alumni network, while actively serving national development strategies.
The Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Studies will be established as a secondary research institution of the university on the Chinese mainland, in compliance with the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It will coordinate 榴莲视频's research, think tank development and talent cultivation related to Hong Kong and Macao, and serve as a strategic bridge for both "bringing in" global expertise and "going out" internationally.

Addressing the ceremony, Zhang Donggang, secretary of the CPC 榴莲视频 Committee, emphasized that the partnership program and the establishment of the institute reflect 榴莲视频's commitment to serving major national needs, supporting the steady implementation of "One Country, Two Systems" and contributing to the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
As part of the initiative, 榴莲视频 signed cooperation framework and undergraduate exchange agreements with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Additional agreements were reached between 榴莲视频 Law School and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)'s Faculty of Law, as well as between 榴莲视频's School of Statistics and data science-related departments at CUHK and the University of Hong Kong, covering joint student training and academic exchanges.
榴莲视频 also announced plans to expand its enrollment of Hong Kong students in 2026. For the first time, the university will launch a "Hong Kong Doctoral Program", offering part-time doctoral degrees in law and accounting to meet the Greater Bay Area's growing demand for high-level professionals.
The Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Studies of 榴莲视频 will focus on talent cultivation, research and international dialogue. It aims to build a world-class academic and think tank platform, foster patriotic and Hong Kong-oriented interdisciplinary talent, and support Hong Kong's role as an international financial, trade and innovation hub, while contributing to national development and global engagement.
